Dr. Erin Fortney

Dr. Erin Fortney grew up in Guelph, Ontario. She completed her undergraduate degree at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania while competing as an NCAA athlete. She then obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, graduating with Deans’ Honours and was the recipient of the J.C. Thompson Memorial Prize, awarded to the student in the fourth year class who ranks highest in clinical Optometry.
Dr. Fortney’s clinical externships in her fourth and final year of optometry school were completed in private practices in Ontario and Manitoba. Her externships provided her with invaluable experience in primary care, pediatrics, binocular vision disorders and management of various ocular diseases.
During her time in school, Dr. Fortney was active in various organizations including VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) where she travelled to Senegal to provide eye exams, glasses and other optometric care to thousands of individuals in small communities. She was also an executive member of CAOS (Canadian Association of Optometry Students).
In her spare time, Dr. Fortney enjoys skiing, camping, hiking and playing softball. She is excited to explore the Brantford community while meeting new people and providing patients with quality eye care.
